Welcome to Buffalo Chow! As you may have read in a recent Twitter update, we're in the midst of two major system upgrades that will dramatically improve the speed, look, and feel of this web site over the next couple of weeks. The first and least obvious stage of these upgrades was completed last weekend; another one will take place shortly. Please forgive little hiccups you may experience along the way; they will be brief, and generally mean that our team is working behind the scenes to enhance some aspect of the site's performance. Here are a few more details as to what's been going on.

Comments. We love and appreciate your comments, and with a little tweaking, our new system upgrades will make comment submission and publication faster and easier than before. Please note that we have several requirements for comments, in order to keep quality up and noise down: you must include your name - first required, last requested - and a valid, working e-mail address if you want your comment to be posted. Comments may be shortened for length, pertinence, or to comply with our submission rules, which effective immediately prohibit personal attacks, foul language, and advertising in any form.

Twitter and Facebook. If you haven't already joined Buffalo Chow's Twitter followers or our Facebook fan page, now's the time to do so. We're already using Facebook to post pictures that we didn't have room for on the site, and Twitter for updates on what's new. More is coming soon.

Something Huge. Though we don't want to spoil the surprise on what's coming in the next major upgrade, we'll say this much: it's huge, and will improve the entire site from top to bottom. We're excited to let you play with it.

Until the upgrade takes place, we strongly recommend the latest versions of Firefox and Safari browsers for an optimal experience here and elsewhere on the web. We realize that many of our users are still using Internet Explorer, which has some well-known problems with both security and in rendering web pages; it's obviously up to you, but please consider a switch. When your pages are loading faster and more accurately than ever before, you'll be glad you did.

Some Quiet Updates. Every once in a while, we take the time to revisit a restaurant we've previously covered, and reassess the current state of its food, service, and other elements of the dining experience. We've previously posted small one- or two-paragraph updates in prior reviews, and are considering drawing more attention to the updates on Buffalo Chow's main page in the future. The re-opening of the original Tonawanda/Amherst location of Saigon Bangkok following a fire is just one of many such updates we've made in recent weeks.
