Maple Weekend 2009
Sponsored by the New York State Maple Producers Association, 2009 Maple Weekend is actually held over two weekends in March, celebrating maple syrup, maple sugar, maple cream, and other maple products in the state. Maple trees are tapped, syrup tastings are offered, and demonstrations of the maple product-making processes are performed. In Erie County, four participating producers are involved in Maple Weekend, including ones in Hamburg, Gowanda, East Concord, and Boston, starting at 10am and end at 4pm daily. Three separate sites, all fire halls, offer pancake breakfasts on one or more of the days. A separate event, the Western New York Maple Festival, is held in April.
